HITS Extraordinary General Meeting
Sun 13 Nov 2011, 1 pm
PUKU Cafe
From HITS:
You are invited to an event to restructure the HITS Committee. As the community in Hanoi changes so rapidly, we propose to open up Board positions every six months.
We hope to use this meeting to recruit a new HITS board. We hope you would like to be involved as we are committed to making our activities approachable to the wider public, and also create a ground where anyone who is interested in supporting community theatre initiatives can jump on board and enjoy the experience.
We hope to see you at the event. Feel free to forward this announcement to your friends who might be interested. At the event, you would be able to volunteer yourself or to nominate anyone else that you think might be interested and fit the position.
Please come along and bring friends, new arrivals and anyone else interested,

HITS Background: WHAT is HITS?
The Hanoi International Theatre Society (HITS) is a non-profit group who brings together theatre enthusiasts and those keen to ‘dabble’ in theatre, to explore creative expression and drama as both a leisure and community development activity. As an organisation, we are committed to performances that are enjoyable and fun for all – cast, crew and audiences alike.
HITS’ Vision
To bring together amateur theatre enthusiasts interested in the performing arts to explore creative expression and drama as a leisure pastime.
HITS’ Purpose
To produce high quality community theatre on a non-profit basis in at least one or two public performances per year that is accessible to the entire local community.
HITS’ Values
The More the Merrier
Community-based with a focus on Hanoi audiences
Consensus-based decision making
Fun-oriented
Community theatre, at its best, both draws from and gives back to the local community. HITS seeks to add to and diversify the cultural geography of Hanoi and to address some of the funding issues experienced by small independent charities through the medium of theatre. Our membership consists of expatriates living and working in Hanoi and local Vietnamese theatre enthusiasts; many of our members work in the voluntary sector and all of our members donate their time to HITS voluntarily. HITS has been active since 2001 and now regularly commands audiences of nearly 1000 people over the course of a show.
HITS income is generated entirely by donations (i.e., ticket donations, individual and corporate sponsorships).
HITS would like to thank its long term supporters.
