The day of ‘all ones’ promises to be a first class affair at HRC, as a trio of exceptional, international beat makers take over Hanoi with a sharp wave of soul, funk, hip-hop, bass and live electronic beat music. Fresh out of Los Angeles and France, and with album releases from both Unconventional Science and DMN SLYR, this is about as cutting-edge as live beat music in the world gets.

As well as tearing the roof off with funked sounds and unique flavours, DMN SLYR will pull the city into crazed party mood with the launch and release of his new brand new album, ‘Lovers and Fears’, on the night, inviting Hanoi in on the frenzied celebrations.

Hanoi Rock City is also delighted to announce that 11.11.11 will set into motion a five week countdown until our 1st birthday. One of the biggest shindigs of the year, HRC 1 will take place on Saturday 17th December, with more delectable details to be leaked on this night, and over the coming weeks.

Unconventional Science (Slum Gods, Token Recluse) is the ecstatic, chemical reaction that occurs when a seasoned crate digger comes into contact w/ samplers and synths. Rare groove, chopped drums, and a sprinkle of psychedelia make for a heady listen that keeps the toes tapping and the brain synapses firing. His DJ sets take you on an adventurous, yet cohesive journey through history, genre, style and flavour, all with a respect for the everlasting funk. Originally from Maryland, Nick eventually migrated to Boulder, CO, and now resides in the megalopolis that is Los Angeles. He can be found spinning his potent mixes at select event, getting his fingers dusty at local record shops, and doing live beats for thirsty ears. On 11.11.11, Unconventional Science will drop a live beat set along with some DJ action in promotion for his very recent new and third album release, ‘Open With Emotion’.

DMN SLYR: the genre-defying artist who began DJing and producing at the age of 16. Now at 29, DMN SLYR works as an accomplished music composer and seasoned stage performer.

Proven to move dance floors whilst satisfying the peculiar listener, a DMN SLYR gig moves seamlessly through selections of electronic, psy, soul, and jazz, entailing a memorable time for all. He has performed and been involved with artists such as Daedelus, Steve Aoki, Gaslamp Killer, OBEY, Fools Gold, J-Swift of the Pharcyde, Lil B, D-Styles, Yarah Bravo, Subtitle, SAMIYAM, SPEAK!, Afta1, Cha Cha, Nikko Gray and many more. DMN SLYR co-runs the IE Beat Cinema, a bi weekly club night that earned a worldwide reputation for showcasing international electronic ‘beat music’ artists.

Along with his audio capabilities, DMN SLYR is also a renowned visual artist. With over 100 exhibitions in numerous museums, galleries, universities, and cultural centres, he also holds street installations and murals in different parts of the world including Japan, New York, Shanghai, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Panama, Los Angeles and Beijing. His dynamic mural art can now also be experienced in Hanoi within the confines of HRC: a large scale portrait of a woman, who acts as a ‘mother figure’ of DMN SLYR’s ‘As One’ mural; a permanent mural installation on the streets of Saigon celebrating the unity and diversity of the Vietnamese people.

After spending an extensive year in Asia, DMN SLYR is on the brink of a return to the United States for a tour de force of exhibitions and performances, where he will bring his hotly anticipated, latest full length album, ‘Lovers and Fears’, back to his core fan base.
