From Hanoi Doclab:

“Students make art”, E.A.T (Exerciation.Art.Term)  in Viet Art Centre, 42 Yết Kiêu, is the result of the whole process of Experimental Installation and Video Art Project by 14 students from fine art and art history department of Vietnam University of Fine Arts.

This project belongs to the extra-curricular activities proposed and guided by Fine Art department professor – M.A Le Tran Hau Anh and Art history and critic department professor – M.A Pham Dieu Huong. The project’s mai purpose is to first apply new methods of teaching and exercitation of Installation and Video art for students. The project aims to add knowledge about Contemporary art and help students to increase creative thinking and the freedom to develop ideas to express themselves as a visual artists by new media. “Students make art” exhibition also aims to create a healthy art playground to stimulate activity, interest in the studies of students in the university.

The project and the production of the artworks is from 15/08/2011 to 15/12/2011 through 4 processes:

Stage 1 : Selecting the students for the project, first experiment with fine art and art history students through tests and writing.

Stage 2 : Research on installation and video art through reference materials along with doing some theorical exercises about the making artworks method and developing ideas.

Stage 3 : Do sketch exercises and develop ideas to the topic and participate some art screenings and talk with guest artists.

Stage 4 : Develop main idea for the exhibition, official focus and finish the work through talks and discussions with the guidance professors.

There are some other art activities :

–         Students make art” exhibition art talk co-ordinated and moderated by group of students in the project from 16 :00 – 18 :00 on January 6th 2012 in Viet Art Centre, 42 Yết Kiêu.

–         Art round table on the topic “Research on theory in Fine Art university” with the participation of professors from Vietnam Fine Arts University: Dr. Bui Thi Thanh Mai, M.A Tran Hau Yen The, M.A Le Tran Hau Anh, M.A Pham Dieu Huong and guests, Zero Station art director Nguyen Nhu Huy at 15:00 on January 7^th 2012 at P202 Building C, Vietnam Fine Arts University.

–         The honorarium ceremony, including 2 awards, one by the Art board of the university and one from the public choice at 15: 00 on January 9^th 2012 in VietArt Centre, 42 Yết Kiêu.
