From Future Shorts:
Together with our friend The Onion Cellar, Future Shorts is back this Spring and is proud to be a part of the Hanoi Sound Stuff Festival 2012, bringing you all the best international shorts from around the world. Once again, 50 cities, 17 countries and our worldwide audience of a half-million people on and offline are united! Hanoians, are you ready for us?
Films include “Mourir Auprès de Toi (To Die By Your Side)” by Oscar-nominated director, Spike Jonze. Created from 3,000 hand-cut pieces of felt, Jonze’s tragicomic stop-motion animation takes place in an old, Parisian bookshop where at night the covers come to life. Directed and written by a female trio, “The Arm” tells an up-to-the minute social commentary on teen love in a time of technology. Visually astounding and technically accomplished, the animated short, “L’homme Sans Tete” reveals love and happiness and one man’s pursuit for romance amidst life without a head.
At the screening the Onion Cellar will do 2 sets: La Blogothèque – including the best of last week’s Take Away Shows screening, plus other works from La Blogothèque collective and Vincent Moon; and a program of short music films curated by The Onion Cellar. These are the films where sounds and images collide to create something much larger than the sum of its parts. Visual-wise: from CGI animation all the way to found footage; in terms of music: expect the same healthy eclecticism of our past displays: pop, modern classical, experimental, electronic music that makes you dance your a** off. Anything goes really (as long as it’s interesting).
