You are invited to the film screening and discussion about the film “The World is Thirsty” of Yann Arthus-Bertrand. The film is about the journey around the world and the issues about clean water. The French Agency for Development, partner of the film production will introduce this in 60 countries.

After the screening, a discussion with Tran Quang Hung, General Secretary cum Deputy Director of Vietnam’s Water Supply Association and Jean-Pascal Torréton, Representative of IRD in Vietnam will be held under the guidance of Jean-Marc Gravellini, Director of AFD in Hanoi.

In the beginning of the 21st century, with the development of populous countries, environmental degradation and climate change has threatened the water source and therefore, directly affect the global food security. Do human beings have the ability to sustain the planet and protect the environment? With more than 800 million people who do not have access to clean water and 2,6 billion people who do not have standard toilets, these issues are great challenges.

The film will take the audiences to 10 countries, meet their citizens and problem solver. The film captures the emotions of the beneficiaries of these solutions.

“The World is Thirsty”, a brand new film of the world famous photographer and director Yann Arthus-Bertrand, was be screened in France in March 2012 within the framework of the 6th Global Forum on Water in Marseille.

The French Agency for Development (AFD) is a partner of this film which will be screened in 60 countries. In 2010 – 2015 period, AFD will sponsor 600 million euros each year for clean water and processing of sewage projects in developing and emerging countries.
