J-CLASSIC for Father’s Day

Fri 15 Jun 2012, 8 pm
Courtyard, Japan Foundation Centerfor Cultural Exchange

From Japan Foundation Centerfor Cultural Exchange:

The Japan Foundation Centerfor Cultural Exchange in Vietnam proudly presents its first act of the JF Garage Concert, “J-CLASSIC for Father’s Day” by Nguyen My Huong (Violin), Nguyen Hong Anh (Cello) and Tran Thai Linh (Piano) in Hanoi on Friday 15 June 2012.

In Japan and some other countries, people thank to fathers on the 3rd Sunday of June, celebrating the day as Father’s Day. On this occasion, to cheer up and thank to all fathers in our society, we present a relaxing concert by a distinguished trio from Vietnam Academy of Music, Nguyen My Huong (Violin), Nguyen Hong Anh (Cello) and Tran Thai Linh (Piano).

As members of Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra and Asian Youth Orchestra, each member of the trio has been individually highly acclaimed in the classical music scene in Vietnam. Formed in 2010, the trio has been actively conducting concerts and annually supported by Goethe-Institut Vietnam.

In this first garage concert, the trio introduces us not only all-time masterpieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, the Father of Music, and Antonin Dvorak but also a variety of classical and popular tunes from Japan, including by Taki Rentaro and Yokoyama Shin-itchiro. Free of admission and no registration is required (first come, first served). Enjoy the musical diversity in an acoustic style, bringing your fathers!

JF Garage Concert is a series of concerts at the garage and courtyard of the Japan Foundation in hope to provide musical diversity to Hanoi through the introduction of Japanese music played by distinguished musicians. The next concert will be held sometime in autumn focusing on electronics music.

Free admission. (Capacity: around 100 guests)
