”Ca Tru” Performance

You are invited to the performance of “Ca Tru” – an ancient genre of chamber music featuring female vocalists, with origins in northern Vietnam with Pho Thi Kim Duc and other performers. At the age of 82, Pho Thi Kim Duc’s voice is in perfect condition.
With the participation of Professor Tran Bang, former director of Vietnam Cheo Theater and Professor Nguyen Thuy Loan.
Pho Thi Kim Duc is one of the leading teachers of Vietnamese traditional music. Born and grew up in a family known for their artistic characteristic, she has learn to sing from the age of 7 and started to perform from the age of 13. She is also a famous Cheo performer for Voice of Vietnam.
Once retired, she has spent many years to research in ca tru, drawn out lessons and comprised them into a book to pass on to the next generation.
Her methodology has made it easier for younger people to learn ca tru and preserve its beauty.
