From Goethe Institut:
Within the framework of the 4th International Festival of Documentary Films in Vietnam the Goethe-Institut will show the German contribution Work Hard – Play Hard directed by Carmen Losmann, 94 minutes, Germany 2009-2011
The documentary „Work Hard – Play Hard“ provides an unusal insight in the organisational structure of many companies and exposes the basic concept of the modern working environment. The desire to maximise profits and to gain unlimited economic growth has led to the so-called „Human Ressource Management“.
The maximum employee’s work performance should be optimated by perfect offices without office characteristics and the workplace should not be considered as „work“-place but rather perceived as a leisure centre.
After detailed research the director Carmen Losmann reveals in her debut feature film the common practice of the subtle tactics of exploitation and offers at the same time an outlook on the future of work in times of post industrial service economy.
„Work Hard – Play Hard“ received multiple awards at the Leipziger DOK Festival 2011.
Language: German with Vietnamese and English subtitles
