ProjectBlack’s ninth documentary features artist Dinh Duc Vinh who breaks from his family’s tradition as coal miners in Mau Khe to become an artist but at last he is drawn back to his family’s village finding something heroic and beautiful in the soot of the miners and even the mines themselves. These feelings he translates in to intricate oil paintings finding that a sense of romance can come from an acute eye examining even the most unlikely of sources.
