From Lawrence Dattilio: “The Soul of Vietnam” is my current exhibit at Tamarack Gallery in Madison, Wisconsin, USA, 849 E. Washington Ave. Suite 102, in Madison. These photographs may help Westerners understand people in Vietnam and to learn about Vietnam’s strong culture and history. The exhibition started in July 2012 and ends in late October 2012.

The same exhibit of 60 very large photographs will be traveling to museums in the U.S. starting in year 2013 – please see the attached brochure from the travel agency Art2Art. www.art2art.org Currently my book “The Soul of Vietnam” is almost finished and is made even more interesting because of an essay by Nguyen Qui Duc and a forward by America’s Joseph Galloway. It will be available in the U.S. starting in year 2013. I am also considering having it available in Vietnam but, of course, this depends on how it is accepted or not by government authorities.. In 4 more weeks I will be showing another Vietnam portfolio at the Blutstein Brondino Gallery, also in Wisconsin. The photos will be from my portfolio “ Contemporary Artists of Ha Noi”, and the photos are portraits that I made at Campus Hanoi in 2006. This is the first time these photographs will be shown in public anywhere. In February 2013 I will have two more exhibits, one is “The Soul of Vietnam” again at Blutsetein Brondino Gallery and the other will be “The New Global Women – Second Phase” at Alphonse Gallery. The exhibit at Alphonse shows young well educated women of Ha Noi who are aware of culture around the world. But they are challenged by many difficult choices as they navigate between traditional concepts and their personal goals. The images in this women exhibit are semi-abstract deconstructed, assemblages that could be called portraits but are not portraits in the normal way people expect. See more images of the exhibition:
