From Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam:

The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam and Nhasan Studio proudly host an architect’s talk “What is to renovate a “space” for arts?”, by a young promising architect Mr. Tsuneo Noda on Wednesday 17 October 2012 in Hanoi. Moderator: Phuong Linh (Director of Nhasan Studio).

As a first grade architect and a representative of architecture/design office “no.d+a”, Mr. Noda has been actively conducting various projects and works ranging from revitalizing planning and administration for old buildings to design directions for shops, exhibitions and events.

One of his long-run renovation projects is “Konya 2023” in which his project team “Travel Front” has managed and operated a 45-year old building in Fukuoka City since 2008 and will continue until 2023 in hope to create and add new values by inviting various creators and directors into 17 rooms of the aged building.

Mainly based on this highly acclaimed project, Mr. Noda will share his thoughts, ideas and experiences to discuss about: What is to renovate a “space” for arts?

The organizers believe that the lack of spaces for arts is one of critical issues in Vietnamese arts scene. We do hope that Mr. Noda’s talk will provide you alternative ideas and inspirations how to think about spaces for arts in Vietnam.

This talk is a part of the umbrella project named “Skylines With Flying People – Multiplex projects on contemporary art” co-organized by the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam and Nhasan Studio, with the support of Prince Claus Fund. The information on the whole project will be revealed in early December 2012.
