From Austrian Embassy:
Austria’s National Day, 26 October, 2012, is celebrated this year under the auspices of the 40th anniversary of Austrian- Vietnamese diplomatic relations. This occasion will be marked by a joint classic concert by two renowned music groups, one from each of the two countries: The Acies Quartet from Austria and the Song Hong Quintet from Vietnam.
The Acies Quartett was founded in September 2000 by students of the Kärntner (Carinthian) Landeskonservatorium. In 2003, Acies won the Austrian national youth competition Prima la Musica and in 2006, Austria’s elite competition Gradus ad Parnassum as well as the Mozart Prize. They have participated in courses and master classes with members of worldrenowned quartets, such as the Alban Berg (Vienna), the Bartok (Hungary), or the Juilliard (New York).
The members of Acies are: Benjamin Ziervogel (Violin), Raphael Kasprian (Violin), Manfred Plessl (Viola), Thomas Wiesflecker (Violoncello).

The Song Hong Chamber Music was formed 3 years ago by a group of musicians trained in Vietnam and overseas, each with an active career of solo and chamber music recitals and orchestral concerts. Already in early 2010 they performed their first Spring Concert together to public acclaim as if they had played together for many years. With this motivation they have continued to perform all over major cities in Viet Nam such as Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Vinh, Dong Ha and Quang Tri. In 2011 the group was invited to perform and take part in the jury of the Mozart string competition in Bangkok, Thailand.
The members of the Song Hong Chamber Music are: Pham Truong Son (Violin), Phan Thi To Trinh (Violin), Ho Viet Khoa (Viola), Dao Tuyet Trinh (Cello), Pham Quynh Trang (Piano). At the present performance, Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Thuy, who is currently a member of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, will play the viola instead of Mr. Ho Viet Khoa.
Acies will perform Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet Op. 74 “The Rider” and Friedrich Gulda’s String Quartet in F sharp minor. Song Hong will perform the piece “The Rains” by contemporary Vietnamese composer Vu Nhat Tan.
Together, the two groups will perform Felix Mendelssohn’s Octet Op. 20 in Es Minor.
