Re: “…It is a chance for the readers to meet and talk with the author,…”
…and so… I had this perfect “Murakami moment” this morning…
When I woke up and checked what’s new in town on THG, I nearly fell off my chair reading in the above announcement:
“…It is a chance for the readers to meet and talk with the author,…”
Of course, I could no longer check if there was only one or two moons in the sky above, so I grabbed my beautiful hardcover Murakami 1Q84 , hailed a taxi and in expectation of half a town at the doors of Japan Foundation in a cue to see the maestro and have him sign a copy, was somewhat taken short of breath to see only a small group of students filling the yard…
I thought that the great writer is somewhere behind closed doors, for fear of crowd explosion, as he was no where to be seen and the conference started, and the professors were talking, and everyone was paying close attention… and then, it kind of downed on me that I have probably and most likely slipped into the world with the two moons this morning, but was only thinking that I am in the one with one moon only…
I hurriedly got up and went to meet my husband who was waiting for me at the gate — waiting for me to slip back into the world with one moon only, as it was very obvious by then that Haruki Murakami was in the world where two moons shine… but, it was not at the Japan Foundation this morning…
