Located in the Sahel between the Sahara Desert and the tropical zone, Massakory is a regional capital. This city of 20,000 inhabitants is located about 150 km north-east of N’Djamena, Chad’s capital, and is the last stop before the desert. The road stops there.
For 6 months in this arid region, in the heart of the African continent, Bertholon captured in photos and drawings scenes of everyday life in this city. His work reveals an overview of life in the Sahel during the transition between the slow and the vital dry season rains.
