Vietnamese Young Designer Wins International Fashion Award
From London College for Fashion Studies (Hanoi):
Designer Vu Ta Linh from the London College for Fashion Studies (Hanoi) wins Singapore Star Creation Award 2013.
He won the judges over with “The Contour”, a womenswear collection that used stitching, weaving and embroidery to capture the curves and waves of a Vietnamese heritage icon – the “Ruong Bac Thang” rice terraces in Sapa.
“What stood out is that the collection came across as cool but also managed to capture the movement of nature. You look at the top layer and think it is beautiful, then discovery embroidery beneath that adds another level to it,” said Ruth Marshall – Johnson, Custom Research Director at WGSN, adding that the collection really came into its own on the runway.
Star Creation is a prominent competition in the fashion design industry in Asia. This is an event of the Annual Asia Fashion Festival. Competitors are promising designers aged from 16 to 35 with Asian citizens. This event organized by the Singapore Textile and Fashion Federation (TaF.f) received the support of many countries because of its expertise and reputation in the fashion industry.
Vu Ta Linh has receive a valuable prize, including S$10,000 and a year working in the FJ Benjamin fashion group. He also will have the opportunity to launch his next collection in Asia Fashion Exchange 2014.
