The 2nd DocNet Southeast Asia Summer School 2013 is jointly hosted by Vicas and the Goethe-Institut in Hanoi. In a 10-day workshop twenty documentary filmmakers from all over Southeast Asia (Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnam) will get the chance to work together, exchange their knowledge and get inspired by 2 renowned international experts.
Aurélie Ricard is a Paris based film editor. Starting in the late-60s during French Nouvelle Vague, she has been a professional in her field for more than 40 years. Ricard has worked as a cutter for cinema and TV productions, fictional films and documentaries.
Leonard Retel Helmrich is a Dutch cinematographer and film director. His documentary films have received highest honours worldwide, including the World Documentary Award at Sundance Film Festival. Helmrich developed the so-called “Single Shot Cinema”, a cinematographic technique of long takes with a hand-held but smooth camera recording from various angles.
DocNet Southeast Asia is a project initiated by the Goethe-Institut Southeast Asia and funded by the EuropeAid programme “Investing in People” to support and professionalize documentary filmmaking in Southeast Asia.
