On the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of Japan-Vietnam Diplomatic relationship, Embassy of Japan in Vietnam will organize the Calligraphy Demonstration and Workshop by Japanese Calligrapher Takeda Souun, entitled “The Power of Calligraphy”.

Mr. Takeda Souun, a famous Japanese calligrapher was appointed “Japan Cultural Envoy 2013” by Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs. He has made many demonstrations and lectures on calligraphy as well as calligraphy writings for various events in the world. (Some typical calligraphy writings such as the name of the world heritage “Hiraizumi”, the name of super computer “K computer” located at Japan Technology Research Institute). In addition to that, he has collaborated with the various artists such as musicians and sculptors and organized many original exhibitions with a lot of attraction in the world. This is the first time he come to Vietnam to have calligraphy demonstrations and workshops. In Hanoi, he will have demonstration and exchange with Vietnamese Excellent Actor Mr. Trung Hieu and members of Vietnam UNESCO Calligraphy Club at Literature Temple, the historical site in Vietnam. In Hoi An, he will have workshops at the Japan-Hoi An Festival.

*Artist Trung Hieu is famous for his excellent performance on television, theater plays and dramas. He won the prize for the leading actor at Vietnam Film Festival 2009 and the Best Actor of the year 2012 by Vietnam Stage Artist Association. He started studying calligraphy in 2001 and becomes one of the best calligraphers of Vietnam Young Calligraphy Club.

**Vietnam UNESCO Calligraphy Club belongs to Vietnam Federation of UNESCO Associations. Since its establishment the Club has studied continuously and thoroughly the calligraphy and held a lot of exchange activities in order to make calligraphy closer to Vietnamese people’s life such as Calligraphy Festival in commemoration of 1000th year Thang Long-Hanoi at Literature Temple, Exhibition of Calligraphy writings of Ho Chi Minh Poems and Sayings on the occasion of 100th year since the departure of President Ho Chi Minh for finding the way of national libration (1911-2011) at Literature Temple and Hanoi National University.
