“Memories of the Lang House” is an art event which is based on the origin, the history, the architectural values, the cultural values, the memories of the visitors, the residents; and the relics – the remnants of the 100 year – old house, which is conserved at Muong’s Cultural Museum, after the fire on 24th October, 2013. This event is organized to remind and improve the awareness of people about the protecting of the culture heritages of Vietnam.
“Memories of the Lang House” includes art praticing, experimental and exhibiting of contemporary art. The main activities of this event are included exhibition of Installation works, Site-specific works, Media Installation and Photos show “Memories of the LANG House” – to tell a story of the Lang house by pictures.
The event is a collaboration of Muong Studio – an zone for Contemporary Art under the control of Muong’s Cultural Museum – with the Visual artists such as: the sculptor Dao Chau Hai, Nguyen Ngoc Lam, Thai Nhat Minh, Pham Thai Binh, Media artist Nguyen Quang Tuyen, Germany visual artist Kai Hügel, visual artists from Ho Chi Minh city and so on. The visual artists will use the left parts of the Lang House after the fire to create their works. Artist Nguyen Quang Tuyen will set up a Video and Sounds works on the foundanation of Lang House and between the trusses remaining columns. Especially, Kai Hügel (Germany) will base on the Recycled Art to compose. Photo exhibition will exhibit the images of the photographer Thai A, Thai Kien, Nguyen Ba Ngoc, Trinh Vu Hieu and pictures from the storage data of the Museum.
This is the first time Muong’s Cultural Museum – Muong Studio co-ordinates with the artists to use contemporary art in improving the responsibility of publics about the Conservation of Cultural Heritage. To mention directly about the social responsibility of each individual, the works raise a multi – dimensional perspective in the audiences about the values of Lang House through the two senses: Visual and Hearing.
The event “Memories of the Lang House” will be officially opened at 5pm, 15th November, 2013 with free charge for everyone who would like to visit. This is not only an activities to response the “Culture, Sports and Tourism of Northwest Ethnic” the XII, held on 16th November, 2013 at Hoa Binh Province but also the one towards Celebrating 8 years in Vietnam Heritage Day 23/11/2005 – 11/23/2013.
