From Goethe Institut:

For more than 10 years, the European Music Festival has been an important cultural bridge between Europe and Vietnam and stands for musical diversity at the highest stage. This year the festival in Hanoi will open with the German guitar-duo Katona Twins: The twin brothers Peter and Zoltán Katona with their virtuosic guitar music have had great international success.

Whether they play Michael Jackson or Piazzolla, Queen, Bach or Led Zepplin, the Katona Twins effortlessly transfer from strictly classical, into more popular musical genres and it’s not by chance, that the guitar duo is known as one of the world’s best in classical music.

Well received by the international press, the twins Peter and Zoltán Katona have already given recitals in major concert venues throughout the world including performances at the New York Carnegie Hall, the Wigmore Hall and Royal Festival Hall in London and also captivated the audience in the concert halls of Berlin, Cologne and Frankfurt.

In 2009, as the soloists of the “Night of the Proms” they performed live to half a million people in arenas across Europe. The twins have won several international prizes at major competitions in Great Britain, the USA, Germany, France and Hungary.

At the 2013 European Music Festvial Vietnam, the Katona Twins will play works by Isaac Albeniz, Johann Sebastian Bach and Manuel de Fallas and will present a performance of Astor Piazzolla together with musicians from the Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra (in Hanoi) and the Conservatory (in HCMC). Furthermore the artists will offer an “Open Lesson” for guitar students at the National Music Academy in Hanoi.
