CUC Gallery will participate in Art Basel Hong Kong from May 15th to May 19th 2014 to represent artist Nguyen Trung’s artworks to world audience. This is the first time a Vietnam’s Gallery to join this modern and contemporary art world’s premier platform.
Art Basel is an annually art fair in some of the world’s most exciting venues: Basel, in the heart of Europe; Miami Beach at the nexus of North and South America; and Hong Kong, the gateway to Asia. It has become a key venue in international promotion of artists, and in the general expansion of the art world.
Recognized as the Asian gateway to the West, Art Basel Hong Kong will offer visitors access to over 3,000 artworks from over 200 exhibiting galleries participating on its platform. It is unparalleled as the regional portal to a dynamic exchange of art, ideas and experiences, with over 240 leading international galleries from 30 plus countries attracting more than 60,000 visitors across 5 days.
CUC Gallery’s mission in Art Basel Hong Kong this year is to introduce artist Nguyen Trung – one of the best painters in Vietnam today, and his artworks, to the audiences.

The project is included in the Art show’s Insight sector, which is built for artists that have great influence in the development of art in a country. This is a great honor for artist Nguyen Trung as well as CUC Gallery. Also, it is a proof to the high appreciation that the world have for Vietnam’s contemporary art.
Artist Nguyen Trung, who was born in 1940, is the prominent painter in Vietnam’s contemporary art. His paintings are based on the mixture of the Western rationalism and the Eastern philosophy. Standing in front of those paintings, the audiences are overwhelmed with emotions: They do not know where to start and how to understand the signs, codes and arrows.
