GROOVY EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC THAT MAKES YOU DANCE

Hailing from Norway, STAER are an instrumental, avant-rock, power-noise trio. Sparked by the Scandinavian abstract, experimental and musique concréte scenes that traced their surroundings, their chemistry was further charged by European, American and Japanese noise-rock, improv and classical influences.

With their latest album ‘Daughters’ (2013) STAER steps it up a gear, sucking the listener into its bombinating, cacophonic void and totally enveloping them in an alien sub-reality. The experience brings to mind an expulsion into an outer-worldly floating battlefield, stretching across the vast horizon-less chasm of the Universe.

At its heart two enormous dueling space-titans collide amidst the planets, hurling moons at one another, crunching their torsos across the hemispheres of Mercury and Neptune whilst emitting a constant miasma of thunderous resonance. The centrepieces of a diabolical Boschian theatre.

Easily one of the best bands currently inhabiting the live underground music scene, STAER’s enactment of these albums is something to behold; a visceral pasting not to be missed. Catch them as you must.

BLACK PACKERS (france / norway – noise)

BLACK PACKERS is a noise/ pedal-porn duo consisting of feedback worshippers Jean-Philippe Gross and John Hegre.

“A black packer is “an impressionable black metal fan who travels from abroad to Norway in order to hang out in places where famous black metal musicians hang out too” (Urbandictionary.com). Not these guys, who, judging by the wall of noise they make, probably eat black metallers for breakfast and vomit their skeletons and guitars into a tape player.”
