Do you have a lot of clothes you don’t wear anymore because they are out of fashion?
Do you struggle to find one of a kind pieces to wear that express your style?
Do you want to save money on clothes but still keep up to date with the latest trends?
This course introduces you to a series of interactive textile workshops that explore a variety of practical techniques that can be applied to your existing wardrobe. For example, learn to tie dye t-shirts, bleach denim jeans, embroider a sweater, or embellish at top with beading for a special occasion.
You will learn:
Trend and visual research for design inspiration
Design development – learn how to create your own textile designs from your trend and visual research.
Textile techniques – block printing, stenciling, dying techniques, bleaching, batik, appliqué, embroidery, embellishment, fabric manipulation, 3D shapes, fringing, fraying, trimming and cording.
Outcome:
You will have research, samples, techniques and step by step processors recorded in a sketchbook for your future reference.
Taught by Donna Bramhall
Donna Bramhall is the founder of vintage textiles business Spinsters Emporium and currently works as a freelance fashion textile designer HaberdasherMe. Donna has studied all aspects of fashion design for over 10 years and has worked as a fashion designer in New York, Shanghai, Hong Kong and London. Donna now specialises on lecturing in research and development, portfolio presentation, fashion marketing and cultural studies. Donna’s other areas of interest include ethical and sustainable practice in fashion education, and textile designs from around the world.
