Tropfest South East Asia [Tropfest SEA], the Asian edition of the world’s largest short film festival, has announced a two-week extension for entries into the free open-air festival that will take place in George Town, Malaysia on 1 February 2015.
Over 5,000 people flooded to the Esplanade in Penang, Malaysia for the inaugural Tropfest SEA on 25 January this year. The free event included live music performances from regional bands before the screening of the 12 finalists’ films, judged by a panel of international film aficionados including the director of the Hong Kong International Film Festival, Roger Garcia, Oscar-winning animator Adam Elliot and Hollywood director, Robert Luketic.
The winner of Tropfest SEA 2015 will receive US $12,000 courtesy of Yayasan Sime Darby as well as a 5-day industry immersion trip to Los Angeles, sponsored by the Motion Picture Association.
