Piano Recital with Boris Schönleber from Berlin
Sun 19 Oct 2014, 8 pm
Goethe Institut
From Goethe Institut:
Already in 2013 Boris Schönleber and Katharina Padrok played a concert at the Goethe Institute. In addition to another program with Katharina Padock this year, Boris Schönleber has prepared a very special piano recital for us.
Richard Wagner (1813 – 1883), creator of great music dramas such as Parzifal, Tristan and Isolde and The ring of the Nibelung, composed the piano sonata, which will be the start of this concert, for Mathilde Wesendonck, the spouse of a patron. The Tristan motif can already found here. Musically matching are the five piano pieces which Richard Strauss composed in the young age of 15 years that already contain the echoes of The Knight of The Rose. Rarely played, this piano cycle contains some artistic pearls. The evening will be close by one of the greatest opus’ of the piano music with breathtaking virtuosity: the 24 Préludes by Frédéric Chopin.
