In the last week of Martin Scorsese film month, you are invited to the screening of Goodfellas, the most successful masterpiece in the director’s career.
Original language with English subtitles. The screening is for educational purpose and supportive to TPD Centre’s Young Cinema Fund.
About the film
Goodfellas (styled as GoodFellas) is a 1990 American crime film directed by Martin Scorsese. It is a film adaptation of the 1986 non-fiction book Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi, who co-wrote the screenplay with Scorsese. The film follows the rise and fall of Lucchese crime family associate Henry Hill and his friends over a period from 1955 to 1980.
Goodfellas premiered at the 47th Venice International Film Festival, where Scorsese received the Silver Lion award for best director. In June 2008, the AFI put Goodfellas at #2 on their AFI’s 10 Top 10 — the best ten films in ten “classic” American film genres. Goodfellas was acknowledged as the second best in the gangster film genre (after The Godfather).In 2000, the United States Library of Congress deemed the film “culturally significant” and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry.
