From Goethe Institut:

With the exhibition Concept Context Contestation the Goethe-Institut in collaboration with the Bangkok Art and Culture Center (BACC) is presenting contemporary art from Southeast Asia. Initiated by three curators from Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand, the exhibition was shown at BACC in Bangkok last year.

On invitation of the Goethe-Institut, a small selection of works is now to be seen as a traveling project in Hanoi from 18 – 30 June 2015. The opening of the exhibition takes place on June 17 at 6PM with an introduction of the curators Iola Lenzi (Singapore) and Agung Hujatnikajennong (Indonesia). Furthermore, a number of exhibiting artists are attending.

Concept Context Contestation shows the work of 14 Southeast Asian artists, among them are five artists from Vietnam. The exhibited artworks – performances, interactive installations, painting and photography up to sound installations – are showing the complex artistic development of the region of the last four decades, focusing on the connection between conceptual tactics and social ideologies.
