From the organizer:
Friends of Vietnam Heritage (FVH) would like to present to its members the Vietnam premier showing of the documentary: “Lighter than Orange – The legacy of Dioxin in Vietnam”.
This documentary reveals a political failure through individual biographies. It depicts the fates of a few of the 4 million Vietnamese veterans who have been victims of Agent Orange, a dioxin-based herbicide which was used to clear foliage from trees.
These veterans speak about their exposure to the dioxin-based herbicide during the war and their lives afterwards. They each brought home changes in their DNA from exposure to the herbicide which would later be shown to mutate a person‘s genetic code. This change was passed down through generations and now children and grandchildren are suffering from incurable illnesses and debilitating deformity.
Ligher Than Orange was selected for screening at the KuaLa Lumpur EcoFilm Festival (Oct 2014) and the Docpoint Helsinki Documentary Film Festival (Feb 2015). It was an Offical Selection for the Socially Relevant Film Festival in New York (March 16 – 2) and came away with the Grand Prize Documentary Feature Award. It was also a Gold Award winner in the Film makers World Festival in Jakarta (March 18 – 27).

There will be a Question and Answer session afterwards with some of the films veterans and children from the Friendship Village.
