From Hanoi International Theatre Society (HITS):
‘Philadelphia, Here I Come’ centers around the character Gar on his last night in the small Irish town of Ballybeg. In the morning he leaves for Philadelphia, America. At it’s core, the play is about communication – or more specifically, the lack of it.
Gar is portrayed by two characters – Public (the man that is seen, heard and talked about) and Private (the unseen man, the alter ego, the secret thoughts). Throughout the course of the play Public and Private battle with Gar’s failed relationships, his imminent departure for America and the memory of his dead mother.
Proceeds from the show will be going to Hagar, a charity working with women and children who have been victims of abuse. You can find out more about Hagar here.
