La Belle et la Bete 1

An arrogant young prince falls under the spell of a wicked enchantress, who turns him into the hideous Beast until he learns to love and be loved in return. The spirited, headstrong and horny Belle enters the Beast’s castle, bringing rice alcohol from the Vietnamese countryside… She begins to draw the cold-hearted Beast out of his isolation. They get drunk, they start to make creepy noises which they decide to call music. Pubs after bars, they ride to share their spicycrunchyfloppycosyrock music around the world!

Together Laureen and Daniel call themselves The Lola Zolas, a name derived from their time in China. The Lola Zolas often includes other musicians, as well — drummers/percussionists, other guitarists and others.

They are joined recently by Jonjie A. Narciso, an independent drummer and percussionist from the Philippine Islands.

Their style is something of a mix of French chanson, reggae, soul, folk, jazz manouche and rock and roll. Their repertoire includes songs by Serge Gainsbourg, George Brassens, Talking Heads, Bob Marley, Manu Chao, Edith Piaf, The Beatles, Dusty Springfield, Amy Winehouse and more.
