Global Playwriting Competition 2015 on Climate Change: Call for Applications

The project, organized by the Philippine Centre of the International Theatre Institute and the UNESCO, deals with the topic “Confronting Climate Change and Defying Disasters”.
THE RULES
1. The competition is open to all playwrights without regard to age, sex, nationality, or membership in any organization.
2. Playwrights may submit one play only, which should have a running time of at least 30 minutes but no more than 45 minutes without intermission.
3. Each entry may be written by one or more playwrights.
4. The entry must be in one of the UNESCO languages: English or French, but occasional and necessary use of other languages in characters’ lines is allowed.
5. No previously published or produced plays will be accepted.
6. In submitting entries, playwrights agree to abide by the rules.
7. A short paragraph in English should be appended to the entry, identifying the climate change issue addressed. The play should have a strong dramatic and compelling narrative line based on a real experience in a community or country of disasters linked to climate change.
8. The copyright, subsidiary rights, translation rights, and other moral rights to the winning entry will remain with the playwright or playwrights.
THE PRIZE
– There will be one (1) prize for the best play.
– The prize of Five Thousand US Dollars (USD 5,000.00) will be given by the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR).
