From the organizer:

Come to “Live From The Forest”… with Kryshe, Simone Whetham, and Sound Awakener.

sonic explorations – ambient soundtracks – raw material manipulations

KRYSHE

Kryshe’s exquisitely subtle and detailed ambient work resonates with chilly grandeur. Across spacious vistas reminiscent of the collaborative work of Eno and Budd, delicate yet assured melodies unfurl before being subjected to delicate manipulation. This is enveloping, minimal music with a fragility that belies its emotional potency.

SIMON WHETHAM

For almost a decade Simon Whetham has developed a practice of working with sound recordings as a raw material for composition and performance. These are often environmental sounds he has captured employing a variety of methods and techniques, in order to obtain discreet or obscured sonic phenomena. More recently, when presenting work in a performance or installation, for him the space and the objects within become instruments to be played.

Simon has a number of works published through labels including Crónica, Line, Dragon’s Eye and Entr’acte; performed extensively internationally; collaborated with musicians, performance artists, painters, video artists and dancers; given listening and field recording workshops in UK, Estonia, Colombia, Chile and Australia; and received a large number of commissions and awards for projects and installations – notably for the project “Active Crossover”.

He had had a live concert in Hanoi and a performance in HCMC in 2012.

SOUND AWAKENER

“Sound Awakener” is an experimental music project of Nhung Nguyen from Hanoi.

In this project Nhung tends to create an endless and possibly dark sonic world and time/space deformation by using field recordings, instrumentation and manipulation. This results in a variety of different moods in her music – from soft, soundscapes – based tracks to harsh ones. In some cases, she pushes the sounds to their limits with concrete, dynamic and complex approach.

With highly-concentrated textures, rich layering and precise sound arrangement, Nhung Nguyen explores different methods of musical development to enable a pure form of sound – creating and listening.

“Sound Awakener” has participated in a live music night in Hanoi and an experimental music night for Nepal earlier this year.
