“Hà Nội: CAPITAL City” Photo Book Receives “Bùi Xuân Phái 2015 – Love for Hanoi” Award

The Goethe-Institut Vietnam is proud to announce that the “Hà Nội: CAPITAL City” photo book edited by Michael Waibel, senior researcher and project leader from Hamburg University, has received the “Bùi Xuân Phái – Love for Hanoi” Award in the category “Best Works” on 23 September 2015.

Since 2008, the Newspaper Sports & Culture of Vietnam News Agency, together with the descendants of
Vietnam’s most famous painter Bùi Xuân Phái, has been awarding this prize to projects which are dedicated to increasing awareness and contributing to the beauty of Hanoi City. Dr. Michael Waibel is the first German to receive this prestigious award.

The “Hà Nội: CAPITAL City” photo book was developed in close cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Vietnam, presenting more than 600 photos illustrating urban development and life in the capital from a variety of views and social perspectives. Alongside the full colour photos are eight essays from Hanoi local residents reflecting on the remarkable qualities of Vietnam’s capital city.

The publication could only be realized thanks to the generous support of numerous sponsors, among them: AUDI Vietnam, Schenker Vietnam and Fichtner Vietnam.

The large format photo publication, with more than 300 pages in a splendid format of 30×30 cm, is
