Nha San Collective’s new space
From Nha San Collective:
Nha San Collective is delighted to invite you to the exhibition “BẤT-PHÂN-THÂN”, open call exhibition introducing 3 young artists: Phi Long – Ngô Đình Bảo Châu – Thành Vinh.
Phi Long has a way of presenting that are both varied and complex for simple materials, which he found at Bien Hung lake (near Bien Hoa, Dong Nai) including almost nothing but land, mud and water. They will be packaged and will once again be transformed in the exhibition space. What can identify them if not their backgrounds and origins?
Ngo Dinh Bao Chau will show us that she can at least make us interested twice in her presence this time. A series of watercolor paintings on paper with simple beauty and a little bit of defiance exuded from the surface… They will be once again manipulated manually by the artist to create different perspectives.
Thanh Vinh knows how to methodical implement his ideas from simple thoughts. Everything is moderated and strategic. And we look forward to how the artist resolves his methods in a familiar and conditional space, with canvas, easels and paints…

Thanh Vinh
Thanh Vinh is a multimedia artist who frequently combines a variety of media in his practice such as: painting, printmaking, animation, artist book, installation and performance. His work often explores the limitations of the traditional technique to find new possibilities in contemporary art representation.
Born in 1988 in Hanoi, Vietnam, Thanh Vinh defined himself as the youngest generation of Vietnamese artist who reflect his national’s phenomena, like the political and cultural history within the context of globalization.
“ I often see cliché Romanticism images of our generation. They are facing with ambiguity between traditional culture and mass media influences or globalization that rapidly changes. How to identify yourself? Where is the Vietnamese identity? Is that already blurred or still exists somewhere underneath? What is the value of the individual in contemporary life?”.
Nhà Sàn COLLECTIVE is not a museum, a gallery or an international culture institute where completed work are presented by established artists. Just like Nhà Sàn Studio before, it is a working studio to nurture where artists can create, collaborate, be given advice, critiques, and have chances to meet with international artists, curators. Works that are presented at open studio every month could be finished or not, but the process of developing idea and working to improve the quality of the art work for local artists is what Nhà Sàn COLLECTIVE focuses on.
