HIWC’s 24th Annual Charity Bazaar is Coming So Soon!

The HIWC Annual Charity Bazaar is The Hanoi community’s event of the year. It’s a family fun day out, an end-of-year celebration and a Christmas shopping opportunity all rolled into one and it aims to raise funds for women’s and children’s health, education and community projects in Vietnam. (Read more about the event in 2013 and 2014).
This year’s event will be held at St Paul American School – Splendora City, Hoai Duc (My Dinh area) on Saturday 28 November, 10am – 4pm. Tickets are available in stores all over Hanoi and online at ticketbox.
There will be plenty to entertain the kids from bouncy castles to Brazilian football, music, ice cream and popcorn. Delicious international food will be available from the more than 45 countries and communities taking part – beer, frites and chocolate from Belgium, Biryani, Chicken Butter Masala and Naan from India, sausage from Germany, Satay from Indonesia and Sushi from Japan, among many other tasty dishes.
Goods and services will be on sale from nearly 60 commercial companies – everything from handicrafts, clothes, bags and jewellery to Christmas goods, plus vouchers for hotel stays, spas and travel.
There will also be a “Silent Auction” where you can bid for business class flights on Vietnam Airlines and China Airlines, seats on the seaplane to Halong Bay, luxury accommodation at Six Senses Resorts in Con Dao and Ninh Vinh or a night in the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi Legendary Suite, a wedding photo shoot, works of art, cashmere clothing, champagne and golf fees!
Over 50 local charities and social enterprises working in the fields of women’s and children’s protection, health and education, vocational training and wildlife preservation will take part to raise funds and raise awareness. Charities working on disability issue are strongly present this year including the Vietnam Association of Invalid and Disabilities Enterprises as they prepare for the UN International Day for People with Disabilities on 3 December. Miss Nguyen Thi Thu Thuong, winner of HIWC’s Vision Award for Inspiring Women will also be present as a guest of honour of the HIWC President.
Talented youngsters of various nationalities will be taking part in “HIWC’s Got Talent” in the morning. In the afternoon, there will be music and dance on the Bazaar Main Stage starring Yury RockIt, Hanoi Brass Band, Apaxionado and The Electric Yard Dogs.
BACKGROUND
HIWC is an informal and voluntary women’s non-profit group founded in 1986. The group has over 450 members from 67 different countries. HIWC aims to support, empower and enrich the experience of its members and give back to society through its charitable activities. Since 2005 HIWC has raised over US$1 million for women and children’s health, community and education charities in Vietnam. The Bazaar is backed by the diplomatic and international community in Hanoi, over 50 charitable organisations, over 15 international and local schools and more than 60 local and international businesses.
