Winter has (almost) gone and spring is coming! Check out our highlighted events in March below to awaken your springtime spirit!
1. Interactive Exhibition “Inventions from Germany”
02 – 10 Mar 2016, Polytechnic University Hanoi

An interactive exhibition that demonstrates groundbreaking German inventions across scientific disciplines. Exhibits, Games, Videos and experiments provide an insight into historical discoveries and pioneering innovations from Germany.
2. Two Special Concerts with People’s Artist Dang Thai Son
09 and 10 Mar 2016, Hanoi Opera House
People’s Artist Dang Thai Son, the first Asian pianist to win the prestigious First Prize and Gold Medal at the Tenth International Chopin Piano Competition (Warsaw, 1980), is going to perform for two nights in Hanoi. He will be playing French music and works by F. Chopin, with conductor Honna Tetsuji and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra.
3. Subscription Concert Vol. 89
24 Mar 2016, Hanoi Opera House
Clarinet soloist Nguyen Minh Hoang and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra will be performing works by Schubert, Webber and Mendelssohn in the Subscription Concert Vol. 89.
4. Exhibition “The Destination Point of an Oblique Line” by Dinh Thi Tham Poong
26 Feb – 26 Mar 2016 at Art Vietnam Gallery, Hanoi
Tham Poong’s new works are a departure in form, medium and presentation but are once again a convergence of the intersection of the many paths or lines she has crossed or encircled in her life. [In this exhibition], she invites the viewers to enter the mandala basket and sit within its intersecting lines to explore the interconnectedness of those around them. Points of intersection, crossing, dividing and morphing into a new existence.
5. Exhibition “Daily Stories” by Le Kim My
01 – 30 Mar 2016 at L’Espace, Hanoi
Lacquers and silk paintings exhibition by the talented and humble artist Le My Kim, who worked as a lecturer for 30 years at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts and has been recognized by her peers as an exceptional artist who had never had an individual exhibition.
6. Jazz Concert with Noga
19 Mar 2016 at L’Espace, Hanoi
A jazz concert with artist Noga, who has always cultivated a passion for melody, consonance, intonation and coexistence of differences. Whether jazz or world, a song, improvisation or polyphony with the public, whether in English, French, Hebrew, African dialect, existing or imaginary language, it is a way for Noga to discover and open up, to touch and be touched.
7. A Night of Vietnamese Traditional Music
12 Mar 2016 at L’Espace, Hanoi
A special opportunity to travel back in time and feel the unfading aesthetic emotion with the 5 major disciplines of Vietnamese traditional music: Tuồng, Ca Trù, Chèo (rural northern operetta), Chầu Văn and Xẩm.
8. A Night of German Classical Music
09 Mar 2016, HCMC Opera House
A night of German music with the most famous works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Johann Strauss, Franz Lehár, and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy with stage director and conductor Tran Nhat Minh.
9. Exhibition “Les Enchanteresses” by Ngo Duc Hoang
03 Mar – 03 Apr 2016, Sofitel Plaza Hanoi
March is said to be “the month of women”, so let’s come to the exhibition entitled “Les Enchanteresses” by artist Ngo Duc Hoang to celebrate such a special occasion! Hoang paints single and group portraits of many types of people that make up Vietnam’s multi-layered society. Through the portraits displayed, we can easily feel Hoang’s love for Vietnamese folk culture and the beauty of women.
10. Exhibition “Migration and Identity”
26 Feb – 13 Mar 2016 at Goethe Institut, Hanoi
Do Tuan Anh, Duong Thuy Duong and Long Thanh were born in Vietnam and have lived in Germany for several years. Their art focuses on questions concerning life with and between two cultures, addressing issues of migration and identity. The exhibition expresses their artistic positions that deal with questions of identity in a sometimes very personal way.
11. 3D Painting Exhibition “World, Magic & Fun”
20 Feb – 17 Apr 2016, Hanoi Creative City
A unique event with huge painted backdrops and the visitor as the missing link. Visitors complete the scene by carrying out some act, usually with a funny note, while their friends and family take photographs of the performer-of-service. Come, have fun, and be the hero of the scenes!
