From Goethe Institut:

In connection with the term Leipziger Schule, the experts are counting the third generation by now. All artists are interconnected through their domain: the Academy of Fine Arts. The anachronistic German title of the institution (literally: Academy of Graphic and Book Art) explains best, on which fields the academy has been and still is focusing: handicrafts. Nonetheless and against all reprisals during the GDR era, a painting culture of great prestige could develop.

The director of the Leipzig Museum of Fine Arts will speak about this genesis with all its points of conflict in the course of the exhibition “Storyteller – Contemporary Art from Leipzig”. On 8th of April at 7pm, the lecture will take place in German with simultaneous translation into Vietnamese.

With works by:

Tilo Baumgärtel
FAMED
Henriette Grahnert
Julius Hofmann
Rosa Loy
Ulf Puder
Neo Rauch
Christoph Ruckhäberle
Annette Schröter
Sebastian Stumpf
Michael Triegel
