Tuần Sáng Tạo – Innovation Week 2016 is a week of lectures, talks, and workshops focus by famous guest speakers around the topic ‘innovation” in Hanoi. This is an opportunity for participants to learn from the speakers’ creativive process and how to harvest energies from being innovative.

Artist UuDam Nguyen will talk about the process of collaborating with application developers and programers to build the License 2 Draw app as part of his work of the same name. The app allows users from all over the world to physically use robots to draw on a canvas that is set up by a couple of robots.

About the speaker:

UuDam Tran Nguyen is a Vietnamese-born conceptual artist. He grew up in different parts of Vietnam and the USA. UuDam was trained as a sculptor at the HCM Fine Art University. He got his B.A. from UCLA & MFA from the School of Visual Arts in NY. He lives and works in HCMC. UuDam has been exhibited internationally in the 4th Singapore Biennale, Asia Society Museum, RISD Museum, Kadish Art in San Francisco, the White Chapel gallery, the Jewish Museum NYC, Bildmuseet Museum, Jim Thompson Art Center the Asia Pacific Triennial (APT8) at QGOMA, High Line Art in NYC and the upcoming Aichi Triennale and Yokohama Museum of Art. His works has been mentioned and reviewed in Art Forum, Flash Art, Vietnam News, Blouin Art Info, The New York Times, Singapore Today Top Pick, Saigoneer, Los Angeles Times, Phnom Penh Post, Vietnam TV (VTV3 & HTV90 and Newspapers, Art Radar Journal, LA weekly, Time Out New York, etc. He won the Jury Selection prize of the prestigious 18 th Japan Media Arts Festival for his robotic app artworks License 2 Draw. UuDam is a co-founder of the experimental art magazine XEM. He is working on his new exciting projects in Ho Chi Minh City.
