This year’s 6th edition of the “Europe meets Asia in Contemporary Dance Festival” will feature an Austrian contribution for the first time: “Seismic Dancer” will celebrate its world premiere on the stage of Hanoi’s Youth Theater and will also be performed at the HCMC Opera House.
The piece was created by the established Austrian artist Doris Uhlich. Together with DJ Boris Kopening they will explore an energetic dance technique, flooding the stage with techno culture, with dynamic movements and hypnotic sound.
Doris Uhlich was born in Upper Austria and holds a degree in “Pedagogy for Contemporary Dance” from the Conservatory of Vienna. She has been developing her own projects since 2006. During her career she has received many prizes and was awarded various titles, e.g. “Remarkable Emerging Choreographer” and “Dancer Of The Year”. Since 2015, Doris Uhlich is teaching at the renowned Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna. For further information see here.
Boris Kopeinig is a Vienna-based electronic media artist and DJ, working in the areas of techno, electronic music, video and internet art. His DJ sets are driven by technoid rhythms and synthetic frequencies, exploring zones of sound experimentation and dance floor celebration. For him electronic dance music is a futuristic take on ancient rituals that affect the consistency of body and perception.
