A Documentary Featuring French-Vietnamese Band “Viet Vo Da House”

Viet Vo Da House is a French-Vietnamese band that has been deeply rooted in Saigon since 2002. The two French founders of the band were inspired by Nguyên Lê’s 1996 album “Tales from Viet Nam”, in which jazz and traditional Vietnamese sounds were harmoniously blended, and wanted to create a musical project that fused electronic music with traditional Vietnamese instruments.
During their 14 year journey, Viet Vo Da House have cooperated with several well-known artists from both Vietnam and France, such as Nguyên Lê, La Grande Sophie, and Le Cat Trong Ly. They have also played in Hue Festival, Oslo Mela Festival, and collaborated with French photographer Sebastien Laval in his photo exhibition “54” in Ho Chi Minh City.
The documentary “Viet Vo Da House – A Vietnamese History” (36 mins, 2016), produced by Louch’Bem Films and directed by Emmanuel Hubert, looks back on Viet Vo Da House’s journey on their artistic creation and searching for inspiration. Full HD version can be watched online here:
