Photobook Project “Vendors from Above” Calls for Backers

Loes Heerink had worked in Hanoi as a teacher, a photographer, writer, designer and communication officer in four years. She is currently living back home in the Netherlands, and wants to come back to Hanoi to finish a photo book project about street vendors in Hanoi.
From the author:
I am going to publish a high quality photo book with images from street vendors taken from above. I plan to have around 100 images in the book. With your help this project will be a success and you will be able to enjoy this colorful book filled with images from the roaming vendors of Hanoi!
This project started my fascination for the women carrying their goods. They have no clue how beautiful their bicycles are, no idea they create little pieces of art every day.
The street vendors in Hanoi are often female migrants that spend most of their days trying to make profits on selling fruit, vegetables, snacks and other small items. In the book I will highlight the beauty of Hanoi’s vendors with pictures. All of the pictures are taking from different locations in Hanoi.
My reasons
There are two reasons I want to create “Vendors”. For you to get an insight and more knowledge about the female migrants that color Hanoi and two it is my dream to create a beautiful book about a project that means so much to me.
Donating to this project is an opportunity to contribute to something really special first and foremost you are being given the chance to become part of something at its earliest stages.

Budget and costs
I am publishing at a minimum of 50 copies of a hard cover, full-color offset printed book. I am using a local printing company in Enschede. The base cost of the production and printing of the books, Kickstarter’s fee, taxes and shipping costs taken into account I will need € 3700 to make this project happen. I don’t expect to make any money of this project.
This is the only time you will be able to get this book. That is, if it does not get picked up by a publisher due to an unforeseen success ;)
Thank you for your support and encouragement!
Some 38% of the project’s cost has been backed (€ 1,402). Donate here.
Hi Loes, sounds promising and looks great – marvellous idea! Just an admin-question: you wrote, this is the only time to get the book. does it mean, the book can be purchased by donate a certain amount? (if yes, which amount)
however, success for the Project and kind regards,
peter
Hi Peter!
Yes, the book won’t actually hit the market. Unless I find a publisher that is willing to work with me (I want a part of the profit to go to an NGO in Hanoi, and if the book is going on the market I need a publisher who can support that).
The book is for sale for €37,-. That is around $40,-.
Thanks!
