Early December’s Festivals, Concerts and Markets in Hanoi
It’s that festive time of the year again and below is a list of events that you may find interesting to start the most wonderful month of the year with:
CONCERTS:
1. Christmas Concert at Goethe Institut:

Goethe Institut
As a tradition, Goethe Institut in Hanoi is organizing a free concert at the beginning of December with classical music and traditional Christmas melodies. There will be the participation of Vietnam Bamboo Ensemble Suc Song Moi, the Hanoi Voices Choir and a chamber orchestra.
2. Ballet “The Nutcraker”:
No Christmas is complete without “The Nutcraker”. Since its stage premiere in 1892, “The Nutcraker” has become an anticipated in theatres around the world every Christmas occasion. The classic ballet has been adopted and performed by countless dance companies worldwide, and this year in Vietnam we have the opportunity to see the ballet performed by two dance companies.

3. Christmas Concert “The Lights of Home”:

Vietnam National Academy of Music
Organized by HIF (Hanoi International Fellowship), which has been providing Christian services since 1995, the event will include a contemporary Christmas carols for expats, families and friends for a taste of home.

1. Giant Lantern Festival 2016:

The first giant lantern festival in Vietnam with 5 areas of lanterns designed in different themes and exciting entertainment and cultural activities for the whole family.

Apart from the festive atmosphere, December is also that time of the year when everyone pays a minute in the memory of an extremely influential figure of the 20th century – John Lennon (09/10/1940 – 08/12/1980). The memorial concert held at Hanoi Creative City this year no doubt will be followed by hundreds/thousands of Beatles and Lennon fans in Hanoi.
2. Hanoi Run for Children 2016:

Formerly known as Terry Fox Run Hanoi, the Hanoi Run for Children has been an annually-anticipated charitable event to raise funds for underprivileged children diagnosed with cancer and heart disease.
