HCMC – Concert and Sound Installation with Michael Schiefel
Tue 08 Nov 2016, 6.30 pm
Hoa Sen University
6 Nguyen Van Trang, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City
From Goethe Institut:
The Goethe Institute HCMC warmly invites you to this two-part evening with Michael Schiefel. The musician gives a concert next Tuesday with the title “My Home is my Tent” at the Hoa Sen University. Afterwards he presents his sound installation “5 Moods for Hanoi”.
Michael Schiefel is an exception, not only in the German Jazz scene but also on stage. As a singer, he experiments with his distinctive bright and sometimes smoky voice with electronic loop devices, so that he ends up singing in a choir made up solely of himself.
Afterwards he will present his interactive sound landscape, based on five moods and inspired by his former stay in Vietnam. Together with musician and media expert Fabian Bronner he created a playful and moving acoustic installation.
The listeners are invited to an interactive journey through the world of moods. Every visitor can change the atmosphere of the room by walking between the sources of sound.
Michael Schiefel studied at the UdK Berlin Jazz song and works as singer, composer and sound artist. His work is focused on the connection of vocal improvisation with loops and other electronic devices. Since 2001 he is professor for vocal improvisation at the University of music “Franz Liszt” in Weimar.
