KVT AND LA @ MODULE 7
I’m a huge fan of the jewelry fabricated by a young man called La
La means leaf and La’s jewelry often takes on the delicate though dramatic beauty of leaf skeletons
La has an open sided showroom where he sculpts his fascinating bits and pieces – it’s on the ground floor of Creative City – just as you enter – and it’s here that you can pick up many of his whimsical creations for a song. He manipulates wire and found objects into irresistible, airy rings and bracelets, pendants and ear-rings.
LARTIQUE lives up to its clever nomenclature as an arts boutique with its restrained exhibition of La’s high end jewelry collection at Module 7… exquisite stuff sculpted using silver, stainless steel, semi-precious stones and delectable found objects… and on show until Nov.6
Like a lot of Hanoi’s talented artists La studied at the Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Art where he honed his jewelry making skill in using fibrous metal material
Some of his 60 objects on show include:
A pendant using stainless steel, old bells (up to 1000 years’ old) and chrysoprase @ 5.5 million VND and another in silver and chrysoprase @ 6million
Another in stainless steel and emerald quartz, followed by one in silver and jade, and also the exhibition’s namesake DIEU in silver and colored quartz… all @ 4 million per piece
Bracelets, all in silver, include one with jade, another with lapis @ 4m per piece
Silver Earrings range from 800 000 to 3.5m VND and 5 from his 9 piece collection are:
Rings are abundant – in silver and stainless steel and sometimes encasing rose, rutilated and emerald quartz, pyrite, seashell, ruby pieces, turquoise, and black pearl.
Just about everyone with a touch of elegance falls head over whatever with:
It’s worthwhile putting on your glad rags and heading to the top end of Xuan Dieu to the second level of Module 7… and while you’re there check out the well designed garments they’ve got in stock
