Lacquer Painting Exhibition “Love”

Exhibition: 15 – 31 Dec 2016
Korean Cultural Center
From the organizer:
You are invited to the lacquer painting exhibition “Love” by two painters Le Van Thin and Tran Ngoc Hung.
Lacquer is a unique and traditional material which requires hardworking and creativity of each artist. Currently, Vietnam and South Korea are two of the four countries that are trying to preserve, inherit and promote this material.
The exhibition conveys the “love” emotion of each artist. 28 paintings were created on the same theme, but bore different features unique to each artist. The young painter Tran Ngoc Hung is considered as an emerging name in the traditional lacquer art scene. He uses traditional lacquer but brings creativity and contemporary art into paintings. On the contrary, Le Van Thin follows the Zhōng Yóng theory, which is not new, not old, not smooth, not rough, not tangible, not invisible in each of his work.
