You are invited to the 15th discussion of the French Literature Series on “The phantom of the Opera” by Gaston Leroux.
“The Phantom of the Opera” is a novel by the French writer Gaston Leroux published in 1910. Like Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the story of the Ghost of Gaston is based on a real-life event. The novel fell into oblivion right after it was published. It was not until English composer Andrew Lloyd Webber decided to adapt “The Phantom of the Opera” into a musical comedy that the novel became well-known to the public.
The discussion will be a good opportunity for literature lovers to discuss this classic work that has existed for more than 100 years.
