As part of Katsura Yamauchi’s tour in Vietnam, Six Space is honored to be the next destination of the artist tour in Hanoi after Hue and Saigon. Katsura Yamauchi is an avant-garde jazz saxman known for his minimal sheets of sound, headlines this triple-bill of experimental artists. Besides doing experimental music, he also spends a lot of time researching and producing short art-related films.
The event SAXOPHONE NIGHT WITH KATSURA YAMAUCHI consists of 3 major activities:

◊ Talk and discussion with Katsura Yamauchi.
ABOUT KATSURA YAMAUCHI:

Katsura Yamauchi (1954) picked up his first saxophone in the early 1970s and was quickly drawn to modern jazz, avant-garde and free improvisation. Born in Beppu, far from the traditional creative centers around the bigger cities in Japan, Yamauchi was until recently relatively unknown, but has now shown himself to be one of the most unique musicians in Japan. Yamauchi was influenced by the new experimental sounds coming from Tokyo, but had developed his own original style, mixing improvisation and minimalism with melodic elements.
