You are invited to a Saturday coffee talk on architecture with the topic of “The architecture of Vietnamese communal houses” with the participation of PhD./Architect Hoang Dao Cuong and PhD. Nguyen Hong Kien.
Hosted by: Associate Professor/PhD. of Architecture Pham Thuy Loan
In this talk, the two guest speakers will present the key characteristics of Vietnamese communal houses in terms of history, architecture and aesthetics. They will also discuss the preservation and cultivation of these communal houses’ values in the contemporary cultural context.
About the guestspeakers:
PhD./Architect Hoang Dao Cuong has been working in the field of architecture for more than 20 years and led hundreds of restoration projects all over the country. Apart from his professional work, Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong also lectures on Theory of Heritage conservation at the Hanoi University of Architecture.
In more than 35 years of working in the field, PhD. Nguyen Hong Kien has conducted several studies and written many articles on ancient architecture, fine arts, and archaeology. He was one of the first people to join in the research and restoration of the Hoi An Ancient Town and the Cham towers in My Son Sanctuary.
