Mental Health in Vietnam; with limited numbers of mental health professionals and access to up to date education, many individuals with mental health issues in Vietnam are not able to access proper care. With collaboration between science and the arts, we can connect and guide the community here in Vietnam about mental health issues. Through performances, art and workshops, bringing the idea of interplay between reality and imagination, explore the inner world of the modern masses. Important information and guidance about this serious issue can be made available.

1. Generalised Anxiety Disorder (G.A.D.) is a persistent and excessive anxiety and worry about various domains, that the individual finds difficult to control. In addition, the individual experiences physical symptoms, including restlessness or feeling on edge, being easily fatigued, difficulty concentrating or mind going blank, irritability, muscle-tension and sleep disturbance.

2. Depression is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects on individual’s feelings, thoughts, and behaviours. It includes a depressed mood or the loss of interest or pleasure in nearly all activities. It can also include changes in weight, sleep and activity levels, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, difficulty thinking, concentrating or making decisions or recurrent thoughts of death.

This series of events is within the framework of the dance festival “Europe meets Asia in Contemporary Dance” 2017. The festival, which promotes contemporary dance in Vietnam, bring ideas and realities come together, understand more about the inner world of human nature nowaday. This is an initiative of the network of European Cultural Institutes and Embassies in Hanoi (EUNIC)

Activities on the 21/9 and 22/9/2017

6:30PM: Welcome guests.
6:45PM: Art display by artist Nguyễn Ngọc Đan.
7:15PM: Dance performance “Anxiety”.
7:45PM: Break
8PM: Dance performance “Depression”.
8:30PM: Talks (10 mins about the artworks by Nguyễn Ngọc Đan, 15 mins about the project by Nguyễn Thanh Trang, 15 mins focusing on Anxiety and Depression by OT. Kuma Thach from Ethos Asia)
9PM: End.

Activities on the 23/9/2017

10h00: Dance therapy by Lê Thị Mai Anh
11h30: Lunch break (guests are free to use restaurant and bar)
13h30: Presentation about mental health in general and how to understand more about it by Dr. Anita North from Ethos Asia
14h00: Knitting workshop by Gabriella Rosschou.
15h30: Art Therapy workshop by Nguyễn Thị Phương Thảo
17h00: End
