Welcome to Improvisation with video art and graphic scores of DomDom contemporary and experimental music club.

This will be a guided improvisation session, focused on musical responses to moving images. We will improvise in a group, whilst responded to clips from the films “Tree of Life” (Terrence Malick) and “Her” (Spike Jonze), and video art by James Richard and Duncan Campbell – both nominated for the Turner Prize in 2014. Through responding to moving images, we hope to structure group improvisation to a common aim, enabling us to create music together.

We will also seek inspiration from graphic scores by composers of the 20th Century, such as György Ligeti and John Cage. We will be able to listen to performances of these pieces, before dividing our own interpretations to them.
