From Heritage Space:

Heritage Space proudly present MAP-exTalk 2 “Cover / Limit” with a presentation by artist-photographer Phan Quang from Ho Chi Minh city (Vietnam). It is a part of the exchange series in “Month of Art Practice 2017” by Heritage Space.

CONTENT

For many years, Phan Quang has developed his photography language (as his main artistic mean) which is not only a channel of expressing a particular aesthetic perspective, but also for discovering and examining the society. By this way, the artist raises questions and doubts, opening possible dialogue among social classes, and building the capacity for appraisal and social criticism which is seriously missing in many Vietnamese generations.

Phan Quang’s photography not only represents a visible reality, but also reveal the slices from many angles of it at the same time or space following the regulation of an image. They can elicit and reveal the single fate blurred or overwhelmed by communism, or operate “traumas” ignored or denied by politics and history, complexes and prejudices in the cultural roots and instinct. Which can be recognized in the projects like “Diary farmer” (2008), “Local food” (2013 – on going), “Space limit” (2010 – 2013), and “Re/ cover” (2012 – 2016) – the latest project.
